Cold Spot: An area of psychic energy with a considerable amount of temperature change from the surrounding area. They may be free floating or stationary. All other possibilities for the temperature change must be ruled out before this is to be considered authentic.
Cold Reading: A fraudulent technique used by charlatans to obtain information about a person. It is usually accomplished by a series of statements and questions by a fraudulent medium, responding to verbal and non-verbal answers of the person being "read."
Collective Apparition: The witnessing of an apparition by two or more persons.
Control: A spirit of the dead who acts as a medium's guide or intermediary to the "Other World." Also known as a Spirit Guide.

Crisis Apparition: A specific type of apparition where the agent projects his or her astral body at a time of crisis or death, usually to a loved one.

Crowley, Aleister (Edward Alexander): (b. 1875, d.1947) Scottish-born occultist, metaphysician, sorcerer, adventurer, poet and author of many occult treatises and manuals, including 'Magick in Theory and Practice.' Crowley once dubbed himself "The Great Beast 666," one of the few of his many monikers which stayed with him, and the press referred to him as "The Wickedest Man in the World." Although in some respects brilliant, Crowley gave himself over to excess, amorality and eventual dissipation. His writings are still studied and analyzed by many present day, serious students of the magic(k)al arts.
Crystallomancy: The art of gazing into a crystal globe, a pool of water, a mirror, or any transparent object to see visions or summon forth spirits.

Dee, Doctor John: (b. 1527, d. 1608) Alchemist, astrologer, seer and advisor to Queen Elizabeth I of England who, along with his somewhat unscrupulous associate Edward Kelly, supposedly devised a method of deciphering an angelic language, known as the Enochian Calls.
Déjà vu: The feeling that a current situation has been experienced previously.
Dematerialization: The disappearance or fading of a physical object.
Demon: An evil spirit or being which is said to have not ever lived on earth in human form.
Demonology: The study of demons.
Discarnate: Having no physical form or body.
Disembodied voice: A voice heard or recorded that does not have a known source.
Direct Writing: Writing that materializes on a previously unmarked surface without the aid of a medium's hand.
Direct Voice Phenomenon (DVP) : Is heard most often at a séance when a spirit speaks directly to the sitters, not though the medium. The voice usually is heard near the medium, but not out of her/his mouth.
Disembodied voice: A voice heard or recorded that does not have a known source.
Divination: The ability to obtain unknown knowledge or future events from omens. Astrology may be considered divination.
